Louisiana man on tricycle facing multiple drug charges

If you drive east of Lake Charles for about three hours, you will come to Thibodaux in Lafourche Parish. The town of about 14,000 is home to Nicholls State University, rival to McNeese State, of course. Thibodaux is also home to a 29-year-old man who was arrested recently on drug charges after law enforcement officers found him riding a tricycle.

The suspect was arrested on several charges, including possession of methamphetamine (less than 28 grams), possession of crack cocaine (less than 28 grams), resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also cited for not having lamps on the tricycle, a news report stated.

The report by KLFY also said that police saw the man riding the tricycle without lights and decided to stop him. Officers reported that the suspect began yelling at them. A search resulted in officers apparently finding a glass pipe that they believe has a residue of cocaine on it.

Before the search was completed, the man apparently fled on foot throwing “several bags of suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine” before surrendering.

He was then arrested and taken to jail. The two drug possession charges filed against him are felonies that could result in up to five years in a Louisiana state prison if he is convicted.

It is worth noting that allegations are not proof that a crime has been committed. Anyone facing similarly serious charges should decline to speak to investigators until they have talked over the charges, evidence and their legal options with an attorney experienced in criminal defense.
