If you get on Interstate 10 and drive east of Lake Charles for about 220 miles, you will arrive in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The Washington Parish town of about 12,000 is home to rap musician Javarious Scott, better known as JayDaYoungan.
The 20-year-old was recently arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Scott was apparently in a gray Nissan Altima with three other people when the vehicle was pulled over for speeding on I-10 in Florida.
According to a statement from the Florida Highway Patrol, "A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted due to the odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle."
The search turned up more than 20 grams of marijuana, along with oxycodone and drug paraphernalia. One of the vehicle occupants was also in possession of a loaded weapon, a news report stated.
Three of the vehicle occupants were arrested, including the young rapper. The other two who were arrested are both from Louisiana; they face charges that include possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
JayDaYoungan had apparently been scheduled to perform later that day at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami.
Another performer scheduled to appear at Rolling Loud was also arrested before taking the stage: Kodak Black was taken into custody by federal agents on state and federal firearms violations.
